International Day at T.I.S was a complete and utter success! For weeks on end, the girls of the Middle School practised and worked nonstop on wonderful performances to represent their given countries. For this year’s International Day mothers of Grade 4 to 8 were invited to enjoy the show. It meant that the event had to be perfect and according to my secret sources, the mothers were very impressed.

The Senior School of Thamer International Schools hosted its annual International Day, with a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours, music and cultures, last Thursday. The purpose of the event is to broaden students’ horizons and afford opportunities for them to learn more about their contemporaries’ cultures, food, and languages, while forming a greater understanding of their own place in the wider community. The auditorium was transformed into an airport, our hosts turned into flight attendants, and the SLC turned into cabin staff, all led by our pilot mentors into a smooth flight across the globe.

A mesmerizing adventure that fulfilled our promise to both parents and students. What would be more adventurous than riding a spaceship to the moon!
Opulent yet educational, extravagant yet informational, the event was extraordinarily interesting with a plethora of facts and information about the space which transported the students on an amazing trip to the moon.

During the month of February, students of the UPS along with the staff sattogether to relish their food and enjoy the ambience of eating together. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to have fun in the open playground, for a delicious meal and create wonderful memories in a joyful spirit.

SPOTTED AND REPORTED, Saudi National Day

T.I.S. celebrated the Saudi National Day on Wednesday, September 19th with great zest, channeling its enthusiasm towards Saudi Arabia and its diverse culture.
The schools’ auditorium was decorated with flags and bright green decorations which represent different regions of KSA. The entire school joined the celebration to get the tribal sensation. Some students came in traditional dresses, green t-shirts, and costumes representing different occupations found in KSA.

The annual debate is one of the most anticipated events of the year and an academic activity that gives students creative room to express what they feel. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through the debate is simply unparalleled. T. I. S. has set the benchmark for conducting activities in such a way that the students not only enjoy but also learn a great deal from it.

1. Hero Day: The children of UPS had the chance on October 18, to write and share stories about the Hero of their lives. Students were also given the opportunity to dress like heroes. The Hero Day was a magnificent day!
2. Dive Dream Discover: Our little adventurers had an outstanding day discussing and dressing like sea creatures.
3. Cupcakes: On October 29, our little cooks were able to present their talents in decorating cupcakes with different kinds of chocolate chips, candies, whipped cream, icing, and many more. We all had a sweet, mouth-watering day!

Students of the Upper Primary schools spent some quality educational time in the school's lab. They were engaged in implementing what they had learnt in class about plants - like parts of the plants, their life and how to plant seeds. They also had the opportunity to observe the difference between plant and animal cells. This was an extremely educational experience which the students thoroughly enjoyed.

STUDENT EDITORIAL BODY EXPERIENCE

Yes, being a part of the student editorial body may seem like a handful; however, it is more than something you just sign up for and toss aside later on.
We started this newsletter because we want to have a platform where students can utilize their writing skills to have their message heard. We want students to express their creativity and have a place to showcase their crafts. We want students to be up-to-date with news and to be aware of what is going on within the school. We want students to contribute in whatever way they feel most comfortable in, because this newsletter is for the students.

The students of UPSwill enjoy doing the Super Bell Competitionduring the Science Class.
The Super Bell presenter will enter the class ringing the Super Bell which tells the teacher to stop explaining the lesson and the students to close their books and start the super bell activity procedure.
She will choose a student randomly and will ask him/her a question which will be related to the same week’s material.

Thamer International School’s Annual Science Fair

On Wednesday, 6th of March, the Annual Science Fair was held in our school, and we certainly learnt new and interesting facts that we never knew we could experience learning.
The students from middle and high school were divided into groups, and each chose a different topic to demonstrate by doing live and practical experiments. Furthermore, they competed and presented their results in the form of a report, display board, and/or models that they had created.
The SLC Investiture

The SLC Investiture was an event attended by all SSG students along with teachers to formally initiate the SLC. Mrs. Almas Khot commenced it by giving the audience a brief outline of what they will be expecting to see. The role of the host was successfully fulfilled by Anna Adnan (10-H). After a delightful Quran recitation by Lybah Adnan (11-E), two informative videos were displayed containing descriptions about the seven departments and the former committee’s achievements, artfully prepared by Andrea Reynante (12-E) and Naama Banaja (12-E). Next, Mrs. Almas requested the elected heads and co-heads for each department to take the stage; were presented with our badges and swore our oaths in unison.
TIS SCOOP, BACK TO SCHOOL: What To Expect From Term 2?

With the new semester comes new opportunities and experiences. While we should reflect on previous successes and failures and use them to our benefit this semester, we should also take every new opportunity that comes our way. With upcoming events, exams, new trips and finally graduation it could be said with certainty that term 2 is more lively and even quite nerve-wracking.

“A MOMENT TO BREATHE AND RELAX.”
The new addition to our school is a cafeteria. Once you enter, you can note how lavishly decorated it is. You are first met with the ordering section where foods and drinks are available. After taking a right, there is a seating area where you find multiple lengthy marble tables that can fit a large number of students.
There are many food and drink choices available for students and teachers to enjoy. Some of the choices given are salads, countless choices of sandwiches, and many other snacks. Not only all that but drinks as well, for example, packed juices, fresh juices, coffee, and tea.
TIS SCOOP, DAHMUN

T.I.S will be joining the annual DAHMUN (Dar Al Hekma Model United Nations) for its 2nd year in a row with over 80 students participating.
This year’s motif is “challenging the status quo- a redefined future” The spirit of MUN is to create awareness and understanding among students from various disciplines and prepare them as Future Global leaders.
This year’s theme will be featuring the following committees:
1.) ECOSOC: The Issue of Population Displacement “No one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark.” What makes it so? What is it that makes developed and developing regions struggle to stabilize the population issue? This summit shall discuss how to resolve the problem once and for all.
