15 Students Win Top Cambridge Awards - Thamer International Schools

JEDDAH: Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has announced that 15 students from Saudi Arabia are among the 131 learners worldwide to win the Outstanding Cambridge Learner (OCL) Awards for the 2015 examination June series.

“I am very proud to congratulate learners across Saudi Arabia on their outstanding results with the Cambridge examinations,” said Waseem Al-Hanbali, regional director of Middle East and North Africa. “It is encouraging to acknowledge the high standards of education offered by schools across the country, reflected through these exceptional results.”

 “These achievements are a credit to the partnerships which Cambridge has established with schools and demonstrate the dedication and commitment of teachers and support provided by families and friends, and the learners’ determination and passion to succeed. This success defines them not just as learners, but as Cambridge learners. I wish them every success in the future.”

Amir Mourad Michel Gorgy and Saif Nassar Tawfiq Beiruty from Al-Hussan International School-Dammam, Yara Mohamed Salaheldin Ibrahim Asar from Excellence International School-Dammam, Ammar Anas Alsayed Mohamed Aboagwa from Thamer International School-Jeddah, Hasan Kamal and Hussein Mohamed Ali Genena from Al-Wadi International School-Jeddah, scored top in the world for AS Mathematics.

Our school is very proud of Ammar Anas,” says Salma Kadri, exams coordinator at Thamer International School, Jeddah. “Ammar has been a part of Thamer International School since kindergarten. We applaud his performance and wish him the best in all his future endeavors.”

Sarangi Kavindya Handun Pathirana of Bangladesh International School-Jeddah, bagged a “Top in the World” learner award for AS Applied Information and Communication Technology, while Mahnoor Asghar of Hala International School-Jeddah received an award for AL Applied Information and Communication Technology.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my teachers who taught and inspired me, and also my family and all those who encouraged me to do my absolute best,” said Pathirana. “I owe a debt of gratitude to my ICT teachers at SLISJ and BISESJ who helped me achieve this award.”

The award for IGCSE English as Second Language (Speaking Endorsement) was achieved by Muhammad Taha bin Saleem of Jubail International School and IGCSE Mathematics (Without Coursework) was attained by Abdulrahman Farzat M. Hazem of New World International School — Alkhobar.

Five students won top in the world learner awards for IGCSE Foreign Language Arabic, namely Rehab Mohammed Amro from Al-Wadi International School-Jeddah, Ruqayyah Ali Ahmed from Hala International School-Jeddah, Lenda Mamoun Mahgoub Ali from Al-Rowad International School, Maram Ismail Taha and Wijdan Hafeezullah Muhammad from Al-Waha International School-Jeddah.

The awards also celebrate the achievements of those learners who have been recognized for “High Achievement” based on outstanding performance in subjects which are not yet so widely taken in the Kingdom, and learners who have achieved the total highest cumulative marks across a number of subjects. These results are recognized by employers and universities around the world as proof of academic excellence.
