    January 2019 marked the Lower Primary School’s “Fun, Run and More” activity where all children participated in an enthusiastic morning race. This activity was a great opportunity to introduce our students to the joys and benefits of physical fitness and team spirit. All the Lower Primary School family which included both the children and the staff displayed fantastic energy throughout the 3-day event. It was a super way to have fun and stay fit and healthy.

    International Day at T.I.S was a complete and utter success! For weeks on end, the girls of the Middle School practised and worked nonstop on wonderful performances to represent their given countries. For this year’s International Day mothers of Grade 4 to 8 were invited to enjoy the show. It meant that the event had to be perfect and according to my secret sources, the mothers were very impressed.

    The Senior School of Thamer International Schools hosted its annual International Day, with a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours, music and cultures, last Thursday. The purpose of the event is to broaden students’ horizons and afford opportunities for them to learn more about their contemporaries’ cultures, food, and languages, while forming a greater understanding of their own place in the wider community. The auditorium was transformed into an airport, our hosts turned into flight attendants, and the SLC turned into cabin staff, all led by our pilot mentors into a smooth flight across the globe.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to have fun in the open playground, for a delicious meal and create wonderful memories in a joyful spirit.

  • Super Bell

    Super Bell - Thamer International Schools

    The students of UPSwill enjoy doing the Super Bell Competitionduring the Science Class.

    The Super Bell presenter will enter the class ringing the Super Bell which tells the teacher to stop explaining the lesson and the students to close their books and start the super bell activity procedure.

    She will choose a student randomly and will ask him/her a question which will be related to the same week’s material.

    On Wednesday, 6th of March, the Annual Science Fair was held in our school, and we certainly learnt new and interesting facts that we never knew we could experience learning.

    The students from middle and high school were divided into groups, and each chose a different topic to demonstrate by doing live and practical experiments. Furthermore, they competed and presented their results in the form of a report, display board, and/or models that they had created.

    As seniors and juniors, students have a large responsibility in mapping out their future; this is primarily focused upon by choosing fitting universities that will boost them to full potential.

    To help them with this never-ending process, the school organizes multiple university visits from around the globe. One such visit occurred recently due to a collaboration with the British Council, bringing forth guests from all over the UK.

    In anticipation, the student body rushed to the auditorium to be oriented with the ten universities that flew in. Other visits that arose were of a university from Switzerland as well as several from Lebanon. These institutions bring a wide variety of options from diverse cultures and make it easier for the students’ selection process.

    During this event, the paramount role of women has been magnified by painting motivating phrases on banners that were hung on the walls of T.I.S. The ambiance was full of positivity.

    الزمان هو أحد أيام الألفية الثالثة، المكان في إحدى المختبرات العلمية المدرسية، فجأة دخل الحسين بن الحسن ابن علي بن سينا، نظر إلي، وتوجه إلي مباشرة، كنت في غاية الاضطراب والسعادة! نعم إنه هو الشيخ الرئيس ابن سينا أعظم أطباء عصره والعصور اللاحقة، اقترب مني وابتسم ابتسامة تدل على مزيج من الفخر والفرح والتواضع.

    - أهلاً وسهلاً بعالمنا الجليل، كيف حالك يا سيدي؟

    - بخير، في أحسن حال والحمد لله، ولكن كيف عرفتني؟

    اعتادت مدارس ثـــامــر العالمية أن تحتفل كل سنة باليوم العالمي؛ وهو يوم يتعرّف فيه الطلبة على بعض بلدان العالم وعاداتهم وتقاليدهم، وتراثهم الشعبي. وفعلاً فقد تقرر هذه السنة الاحتفال بهذا اليوم، وتمّ وضع خطة شاملة من قبل الإدارة؛ للعمل على إنجاح هذا الحفل، حيث قام كل معلم بتدريب فصل من فصول المرحلة الابتدائية والمتوسطة على تمثيل بلدٍ يختاره الطلبة.

    بدأنا نتدرب وعشنا جوّاً رائعاً امتاز بالتعاون والسعادة والانضباط، وبعد جهد واجتهاد أصبحنا جاهزين للعروض على مسرح المدرسة أمام والدينا وأساتذتنا وزملائنا الطلبة من المراحل المختلفة.

    قُمنا بعرض فقرات مختلفة عن بلدان عربية وعالمية، ارتدينا زيّها الرسمي وعرّفنا بها ثم قدّمنا عروضاً مسرحية ورقصات شعبية تخصّها.

    كان يوماً مميزاً بالفعل، شعر الحضور بالفرح والسعادة والفخر بما قدمناه من عروض. أشكر مدرستنا، وأشكر كل من ساهم في إنجاح هذا اليوم الجميل. أفتخر بعروبتي وانتمائي.

    إنّ معاني القرآن تُخاطب الناس جميعاً على اختلاف أزمانهم ومداركهم، ومن الأمثلة على ذلك قوله تعالى: “تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجًا وَقَمَرًا مُّنِيرًا” سورة الفرقان 61.

    فالعامّي الذي لا علم له سيعلم أنّ هذه الآيات تتحدّث عن وصف الشمس والقمر، وأنّ كليهما مصدرٌ لإضاءة الأرض، أمّا العالم باللغة العربية، فسيدرك عند تأويل هذه الآية أنّ الشمس

    لم يكن أبداً لما يُكتَب أهمية كما في عالمنا المعاصر: فيس بوك، واتس آب، تويتر، إنستيجرام. يُسمع الخبر فيبدأ الناس بتداوله دون تفكير ويبدأ البعض بالتعليق عليه. عالم افتراضي تملؤه أخبارٌ معظمها لايمتُّ للحقيقة بصلة، وتعليقات بعضها لا يليق بإنسانيتنا. والكل يختفي وراء لوحات معدنية ولا يعبأ بما قد تتركه هذه الأمور من أثر في حياتنا.

    معظمنا يتورط بالشائعات فهي قادرة على التسلل بيننا ودفعنا بعيداً عن بعضنا بعضاً وتفريقنا. وحتى المؤتمرات العلمية العالمية مثلاً، التي ينظر إليها على أنها من التجمعات الأكثر رقياً، لا تخلو من الإشاعات. لكن هل يظن الذي يسبب الإشاعات أنه غير مرئي أو أن ملائكته لا يسطرون؟
