Welcome Back to Middle School (2019-2020)

Welcome Back to Middle School (2019-2020) - Thamer International Schools

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a joyful and refreshing summer vacation. We have gotten off to a great start with students quickly getting back into the school routine. During the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue to build upon and refine our proven foundation of good work, honored traditions, and continued excellence in education. We would also like to welcome Grade 4 students in the Middle School, hoping that this year will be a fun- filled and a fruitful year for them.

This year promises to be a year filled with golden opportunities for all our students as we strive to find ways that we can be even better than we were before. We embark on this journey with a pledge to you, our students and parents, that this will be a year of engaging, meaningful and rigorous work in our classrooms combined with special events, a plethora of extracurricular clubs and activities, performing arts groups, and project based sessions certain to encourage our students to be involved and stay connected. Each day we work very hard to provide a safe, engaging and rewarding educational environment for all students equally.

As in the past, the daily start time at the Middle Schools will be from 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Kindly be informed that the schools timing (according to the Academic Calendar) for the first week from Sunday, September 01, 2019G. until Thursday, September 05, 2019G. will be from 7:30 a.m. till 12:00 noon. The first session will commence at 7:50 a.m. Like last year, the bus loop pick-up and drop-off pattern will be along the front parking lot near the Male Administration. This will allow for other parents to pick up their sons/daughters from the other gates.

We encourage you to attend the “Open House Day” on Thursday, Muharram 20, 1441H. which coincides with September 19, 2019G. for Grades 4 to 8, from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. You will be given a clear idea about the schools’ policies, procedures, regulations and our updates and this will enlighten you with some information about our schools’ academic year. A brief informational presentation will be specifically directed to parents of the new enrollees and of the fourth graders.

Our main concern in the Middle School is to prepare our students for the future by setting standards of international education. To be able to provide a strong platform for our learners to progress from one stage to the next, we are opening the opportunity for our learners to appear for the Cambridge Checkpoint Exams in Grades 6 and 8, the MAP Exams in Grades 5 and 7 and the DELF Exam in Grades 7 and 8. During the first week of school, results of MAP, DELF and Checkpoint will be handed to those students who have appeared for these exams during the academic year 2018-2019.

Our students’ dress code is consistent as last year, with no changes for 2019-2020. As a reminder, students should wear the regular school uniform on a daily basis and the sport uniform when their school daily schedule shows that they have Physical Education. Both are available in the school bookstore. Students are not permitted to wear shorts, jeans, flip flops, Crocs or any other open-toe shoes. Only plain black shoes are allowed. All garments must be in good condition without any rips or torn outs. We appreciate parents’ help with upholding our dress code.
