Welcome Back to Upper Primary School (2019-2020)

Welcome Back to Upper Primary School (2019-2020) - Thamer International Schools

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to school! Upper primary school staff is glad to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.

As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their potential. We believe that all of us – the school and the community – must work together in an extended family environment to ensure success for all our students.  We believe it is everyone’s responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful and responsible.

The theme of this school year is, “Manners Matter”. Manners are used every day to make a good impression on others and to feel good about oneself. No matter where you are - at home, work, or with friends - practicing good manners is important.

Good manners are more than opening doors and writing thank you notes. While opening doors for others and writing notes is nice, true courtesy goes deeper. Being polite and courteous means considering how others are feeling.

If you practice good manners, you are showing those around you that you are considerate of their feelings and respectful. Also, you are setting standards for others' behavior and encouraging them to treat you with similar respect.

Every culture and individual may have different rules or feelings about what is polite or what is impolite. The goal of this year is to review some of the more basic and common rules of polite behavior in our society.

These rules may differ from person to person or based on situation, but there is one rule of good manners (and life, in general) that is always easy to follow - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Our students’ dress code is consistent as last year, with no changes for 2019-2020. As a reminder, students should wear the regular school uniform on a daily basis and the sport uniform when their school daily schedule shows that they have Physical Education. Both are available in the school bookstore. Students are not permitted to wear shorts, jeans, flip flops or crocks or any other open-toe shoes. Only plain black shoes are allowed. All garments must be in good condition without any rips or torn outs. We appreciate parents’ help with upholding our dress code.
