Canteens

A well-fed child is always an attentive person. Keeping this in mind, Thamer International Schools canteen provides its students with some healthy snacks and drinks.
School canteens are open from 7:30-2:55 p.m. and during break times only. Students are not allowed to purchase any food or water from the canteen during class time, including P.E. and Gym lessons.
Duty teachers monitor students to avoid congestion near the canteen during break times. The canteen stops selling 5 minutes before dismissal time.
If parents choose to send food to their children, please provide them with something healthy to eat at break times in a suitable container marked with their name. Also, provide healthy drinks in containers other than glass, as it is dangerous.
Students are permitted to drink water during lessons, provided they do not need to leave the classroom. Please ensure that each student brings a personal plastic water bottle.

Clinic

Health First

A full-time school doctor and a school nurse run the school clinic. Their work focuses on preventive, curative, and educational matters.

The preventive aspect involves keeping and updating a file for each student. Parents are required to fill out a health status update at the start of each school year.

Please keep your child at home if he/she has:
•    fever or has had one during the previous 24-hour period.
•    a heavy nasal discharge.
•    a constant cough.
•   symptoms of a possible communicable disease. (These are usually sniffles, reddened eyes, sore throat, headache and abdominal pain plus fever).
•    Lice

Besides preventive and curative measures, the clinic offers an educational aspect. Both the doctor and the nurse are involved in class visitations, assemblies on hygiene, health issues, etc., and on disseminating information on current health practices.

Counseling

Social Workers at Thamer International Schools provide social and emotional guidance and counselling services to our students and their families. Our goal is to assist in developing the student’s social skills, help them adjust to the school environment and guide parents and teachers in dealing with the difficulties they might face with their child.

Students may be referred to the Social Worker by teachers, parents, administration and other school personnel, or they may choose to see the Social Worker on their own. Upon referral, the Social Worker assesses the needs of the student and takes whatever action is deemed necessary. Social Workers will coordinate follow-up on any recommended action.

Social Workers: We will be more than happy to get your call or arrange a meeting with you.
