I've been a student for a while. Almost eighteen years now. I'm not trying to show off or boast, I'm not that victorious of a student. Frankly I gave up on myself more than once, but there was this force that prevented me from doing so, and it just took me back to the drawing board. What is that force? You wonder. HOPE is that force, whether it is from a smiley teacher or that dream I had of making my first million at the age of twenty-five. HOPE isn't a value like my grades or my obscurely increasing weight. You can't just measure hope, it’s always there, but it's your job to find it. It's your way of balancing the positive and the negative.
“All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother," said Abraham Lincoln. But not just my mother, my entire family. They put a lot of effort, time, and money into me knowing that I would thrive, not just academics and career, but life. Although we argue sometimes which is totally normal, they have always been and will hopefully be supportive of my choices. So how can I let this down? It is just like the like the light at the end of the tunnel. The looks on their faces when I achieve something is just so heartwarming or is it my body just releasing dopamine? I may not know the answer to that, but all I know is as difficult something gets I'll always know that they are behind my back desperate for the moment of success, wishing me the best. And if I ever fall, they will be there for me.
Besides, I once read online that your teacher is your best friend that you never expected yet I never believed in it, not until twelfth grade. After my AS results came out, I was scuttled. For instance, I almost gave up on myself, but certainly some teachers did. Nevertheless, one teacher did not. For instance, he said he still has hope in me. My teacher Accounts teacher decided to still give classes in A2 accounting although I was the only student. He saw that there is room for improvement, even in my final school year. This shows how passionate and dedicated someone could be. And for me, I learned that where there is a will, there is a way and to always have hope.
To conclude this article, I would like to say that gratefulness leads to hope that leads to success. And it may not be your teacher nor your family, it could also be yourself. You just have to look for the light at the end of the tunnel as it will always be there.
