Safety and Security:
Thamer International Schools are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students. Comprehensive safety plans are in place to address a wide range of potential emergencies. To ensure these measures remain effective, security procedures are reviewed periodically and updated as required by the Department of School Safety and Security.
Emergency plans are practiced several times throughout the academic year to ensure that both staff and students fully understand the appropriate actions to take in the event of a real emergency.
Safety Guidelines:
- Fire drills are conducted at least once a month while school is in session.
- Principals, teachers, and designated staff inspect all exits daily to ensure that stairways, doors, and emergency exits are operational, safe, and unobstructed.
- On the day of a drill, an emergency alarm is activated using the school’s fire alarm system.
- The school ensures that all students and staff can recognize the alarm sound and understand the required emergency procedures.
- Teachers, administrators, and staff are trained and familiar with the school’s fire protection systems, including the locations of fire alarm pull stations and sprinkler systems.
- Every classroom and facility includes clearly posted evacuation maps indicating at least two exit routes.
- Participation in fire drills is mandatory for all students and staff. Students with specific needs are supported by an assigned staff member or student buddy.
- Fire drills help identify students who may require additional assistance during emergencies.
- While it is important for students to evacuate promptly, maintaining order and following instructions is essential to ensure safety during drills.
- After evacuating the building, students and staff assemble at designated areas and remain there until the “all clear” is announced.
- Attendance rosters are used to confirm that all students are safely accounted for.
- Fire drills are conducted at both scheduled and unscheduled times, and under varying conditions, to realistically simulate emergency situations.
- These drills also serve as a model for students to apply safety practices at home, and families are encouraged to discuss and practice emergency plans together.
